We then began discussing the awful game plan presented before us.
- Have the D&E which takes 15 minutes and we will be able to move on from this horrific situation
- Induce labor prematurely so we can say good-bye to the baby and move on from this horrific situation. Doctor said this would usually take 72 hours.
- Wait for the baby to come on its own risking my life which could result in:
- Death of the baby (most likely)
- A baby with significant impairments
- A normal healthy baby (Hail Mary shot)
Did I mention I have the best husband? Yeah I know, super cheese ball and most wives/girlfriends/fiancés think they have the best significant other…but really… I have the best husband. Okay, I know it’s subjective and he’s the best significant other for me while other people who have husbands that win their “best husband award” are perfect for them. Anyway, my husband went out and bought some sweatpants for me, two cases of Gatorade, prenatal vitamins, and a Disney’s “Brave” figurine. He put Merida (The Brave figurine) on my dresser and said it was to remind me that I was brave (which he has always called me because I have curly red hair). I love it and this incredibly sweet gesture reminds me to keep fighting.
Casey and I are incredibly blessed with wonderful family and friends. Family visited us and our friends, Joe & Deb, came over to drop of delicious homemade healthy meals. Remember how I talked earlier about coping and celebrating with food? Well, with our first miscarriage, Casey and I have coined that phase in our life as the “Milkshake Malaise Era”. We watched movies, stopped running/working out, and drank lots of milkshakes. Ummm hello…I’m a therapist…depression 101. I knew it wasn’t good, but it felt so good for the time being. We were in pain and had no energy for anything else. We never wanted to fall back into that lifestyle again so this time around when our generous friends asked what they can do, we asked them to cook a healthy meal. So far, that has turned into multiple healthy meals and they really have no idea how much this is helping us. I can’t cook because I’m on bed rest and my husband has been taking care of everything else around the house. Fortunately for us, our friends are seriously like Top Chef material. I’m incredibly thankful to our family, our friends who have been reaching out, and even a “Secret March 2015 Mommies” group that I posted in and was greeted with overwhelming love and support. It takes a village.
